People often wonder what the difference between Counselling and Psychotherapy is. Put very simply, Counselling usually refers to shorter or fixed term work that centres around behaviour patterns whilst psychotherapy focuses on longer term work and draws insight into the personality structure, the nature of our attachment styles and how childhood experiences impact us in the here and now. They are both valuable for different people and at different times in our lives.
Mindfulness-based counselling can give you the opportunity to see things more clearly and the tools to make changes that may address the issue that you is troubling you. It is more ‘directive’ than longer term psychotherapy and more specific in its goals.
